Foodlink’s Lexington Avenue Urban Farm is undergoing a transformation. In the past year, we have engaged with community members and landscape architecture firms to plan for the expansion and beautification of the farm and the surrounding property. Our plans include increased play opportunities for children and a more welcoming community space for the neighborhood. We’ve received grant funding and private support to cover a majority of the costs, however we are now seeking public support to help us reach our goal!

The Lexington Avenue Urban Farm, located at 631 Lexington Ave., sits on 1.3 acres of an old Rochester subway bed. Since 2012, the farm has provided land for the local refugee population to grow crops for their families in one of Rochester’s poorest neighborhoods. The farm also serves as a commercial growing operation for Foodlink to harvest food for its community kitchen, which serves thousands of meals daily to Rochester children; and for the Curbside Market – our mobile farmers market that travels to under served communities. The farm continues to expand, and now includes dozens of raised beds, an apiary, an orchard and an 80-foot hoop house. We look forward to utilizing this vibrant piece of property to the fullest in the years ahead, and fostering greater community health among people of all backgrounds. Thank you in advance for your support.

As a leading public health organization, Foodlink administers many programs and initiatives that aim to build the health and wealth of communities.

We provide food assistance through the safe storage and distribution of emergency food to our network of food bank members and community partners. We build healthier communities through innovative programs that create new access points to nutritious foods and empower people to make healthy choices.
