Every year, Foodlink’s team of nutrition educators teaches over 1,500 low-income participants how to shop healthy on a budget. Help them apply what they learned!
The Cooking Matters at the Store tours teach low-income participants to compare unit prices, read food labels, identify whole grains and buy fruits and vegetables on a limited budget. After the tour, participants apply the skills they learned to buy ingredients that would make a healthy meal for under $5. The tours either take place directly in a grocery store or at a community site, where the nutrition educator simulates a grocery shopping experience.
After completing a Cooking Matters at the Store tour, families receive a $5 food voucher to use at Foodlink's Curbside Market trucks or on eligible food at a grocery store.
How far does a $5 voucher go on a Curbside Market truck? Here are some bundles a family can purchase with your donated produce voucher:
Family Breakfast Bundle: 1 dozen eggs, 4 onions, 1 portabello mushroom, 2 green peppers, and 1 pint red tomatoes
Hearty Harvest Dinner Bundle: 3 yams, 2 zucchini, 1 pound carrots, 1 butternut squash, and 4 onions
Fabulous Fruit Bundle: 4 apples, 5 bananas, 3 oranges, 2 pears, and 2 lemons
Help us celebrate our 40th year of building healthier communities by donating $40 today!

In Support of Foodlink
Foodlink is a Rochester-based nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger and building healthier communities by addressing both the symptoms and root causes of food insecurity. We serve as the hub of the emergency food system across a 10-county service area. As a leading public health organization, Foodlink administers many programs and initiatives that aim to build the health and wealth of communities.
We provide food assistance through the safe storage and distribution of emergency food to our network of food bank members and community partners. We build healthier communities through innovative programs that create new access points to nutritious foods and empower people to make healthy choices. We drive change through bold career empowerment initiatives and advocacy for a more just, equitable food system.
