2019 Urban Ag Conference
About This Event
Join the Urban Agriculture Working Group for our 4th Annual Urban Ag Conference! This year, the conference will be held at World of Inquiry School #58 on Saturday, May 4th, from 10am to 4pm. The conference is a day for community and home gardeners, educators, and leaders in Rochester to connect and celebrate urban agriculture! The conference offers several opportunities to connect with community gardens. Join us for workshops, discussions, tabling sessions, a seed swap, and more!
We are so excited to offer a Rain Barrel Construction Workshop for a second year in a row! Please note that there will be an additional $20 fee for materials costs. There are 20 spots available!
But wait, there’s more! Everyone is welcome to participate in guided urban ag tours in two Rochester neighborhoods! Transportation for 20 people per tour will be provided courtesy of the City of Rochester; participants are welcome to follow in their own vehicle. We expect to return to the conference by 4:10pm.
Are you a teacher working with school gardens? For the second year, Finger Lakes Eat Smart New York is offering a full-day, Sustainable School Gardens Teacher Training Workshop! Please note that this workshop will occur simultaneously with the general conference. However, you will join the other participants for the lunch hour, as well as the tabling sessions and seed swaps before and after the workshops. RCSD Professional Development credit is available!

Event to Support Foodlink, Inc.
Foodlink is the Feeding America food bank serving Allegany, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates counties. For more than 40 years, we have leveraged the power of food to end hunger and build healthier communities. Through good stewardship, innovation and collaboration, Foodlink mobilizes a diverse network of community partners to eradicate both the symptoms and root causes of hunger. Foodlink’s community health programs provide new access points to nutritious and affordable food in under served communities. We empower individuals and families to make healthy choices through nutrition education initiatives. Our food banking operations distribute millions of pounds of food to a network of nonprofit members. The Foodlink Community Kitchen nourishes thousands of children daily with healthy meals, slices locally grown apples, and prepares people for culinary careers through a one-of-a-kind career empowerment program. Learn more about how we are transforming lives and creating healthy futures for every community we serve at www.foodlinkny.org, or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram at @foodlinkny.
