The volunteering shift in the kitchen includes packing snacks, prepping meals, or cleaning the kitchen/doing dishes. Volunteers will play a crucial role in helping the kitchen to prepare the 4,000 meals we provide to children in the community daily. Please note that all afternoon shifts will involve cleaning at some point. Projects require volunteers to stand for long periods of time and to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. No jewelry or finger nail polish, no exceptions. Cell phone use is permitted only in designated areas while volunteering in the kitchen. All cell phones should be securely stored with other personal items. Timeliness is critical to kitchen production—if you are more than 10 minutes late to your kitchen shift we reserve the right to place you in the warehouse for your volunteer shift. Please arrive on time. For more information on the Foodlink Kitchen please visit http://foodlinkny.org/fight_hunger/programs-initiatives/#tab-2

In Support of Foodlink

Foodlink is a Rochester-based nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger and building healthier communities by addressing both the symptoms and root causes of food insecurity. We serve as the hub of the emergency food system across a 10-county service area. As a leading public health organization, Foodlink administers many programs and initiatives that aim to build the health and wealth of communities.

We provide food assistance through the safe storage and distribution of emergency food to our network of food bank members and community partners. We build healthier communities through innovative programs that create new access points to nutritious foods and empower people to make healthy choices. We drive change through bold career empowerment initiatives and advocacy for a more just, equitable food system.
